Say Yes Before You Feel Ready

I reflect on the full-circle experience of MCing an Our Lady Peace concert at Whistle Bear. I grew up playing their albums through bargain speakers and an old Mazda’s aftermarket CD player, so briefly becoming the person with the microphone felt surreal—even while the Whistle Bear team did the real work of planning (official website) and producing the night.

I shared this because growth rarely arrives after you feel completely prepared. Speaking to a concert crowd was different from leading a wedding ceremony, but the opportunity followed the same pattern as many of the best things I have done: I said yes first and learned by doing. That is useful permission to begin before circumstances feel perfect.
